MAC and Mecca Maxima Haul

Hi Guys

So with all the new holiday products coming out, I may have done little shopping that I am not going to share with you.

Firstly ever since I saw Tati from Glam life guru talk about these I knew I needed them in my life. MAC has of course come out with a new holiday collection called objects of affection which includes a lot of different holiday sets. I decided to pick up one of the pigment sets as I find these to be quite good value. I picked up the pink/rose set, each set comes with 4 pigments (some permanent) and 1 glitter in a nice little box with a glitter lid and broach on top. It retails for $65.00

I also have been going to Mecca Maxima (much easier with a new one just opened near me) to check out the new holiday sets. I went in at first to get too faced everything nice set but after reading reviews I wasn't 100% sold on getting it so instead I went for the melted kisses set. it contains 4 mini melted liquad lipsticks. In the set you get melted nude, melted peony, melted fuchsia and melted berry (my fave so far). This retails for $34 and is a great way to try the melted lipstick range

I also picked up the hourglass ambient lighting blush palette. This is the first hourglass product I have bought as lets face it the powders why beautiful I'm not 100% sure how necessary they are but my mind may change. this palette contains 3 blushes 2 permanent (luminous flush and mood exposure) and 1 exclusive (incandescent electra) blush. If you want this palette I would run out now to get it as from what I hear its becoming quite difficult to obtain   and retail for $76.00

As  I was walking around Mecca Maxima looking all the new holiday palettes (which I told myself I wouldn't buy as I am going to Sephora Sydney after Christmas YAY!!!!!) I saw the bare minerals the magic act palette for eyes and cheeks. This is a neutral palette with a twist in that the neutrals are pink and brown not just browns. It also comes with 2 blushes, 1 bronzer and 1 high lighter and retails for $54.00

so thats all my shopping and hopefully i will have some reviews up soon

Mecca Beauty Loop Box

Hi Guys

So its that time of the year again when Mecca distributes their beauty loop boxes! (Yay!)

So for those who don't know the beauty loop boxes are like Mecca's loyalty program, there is 3 levels depending on how much you spend and that is also reflected in the boxes.

I got a level 2 beauty loop box which came with 4 samples. This is my first level 2 beauty loop box and I am really excited by the samples I got. In your box you get a card that explains each product and why Mecca loves it.

The first sample I got was of the new (to Mecca) Josie Moran 100% pure and 100% pure light argan oil. what Mecca says 'A duo of the classic hydrating, balancing, nourishing argan oil for hair, skin, and nails in its original formula and lightweight version for hotter weather and oily skin types'.

I also got the raved about Philosophy hope in a jar, what Mecca says 'This cult classic cream reduces the appearance of wrinkles, pigmentation, evens texture, and hydrates deeply in a rich, easy use soufflé like cream'.

Third product is the Origins plantscription power lift cream, what Mecca says 'packed with powerful botanical extracts this cutting edge cream visibly lifts and restore plumpness and collagen in the skin while hydrating'

and lastly the product I am most excited about a sample of the Nars lip gloss in priscilla, what Mecca says 'Serious shine in a vitamin E-enriched formula. We just love wearing it on its own or over other colours for dimension'.

Level 2 - Beauty Loop Box
I am really happy with all my samples and cant wait to try them

Life update

Hi Guys

Sorry it's been awhile between posts, but as I may have mentioned I am currently studying to get my PhD in science. So as you can imagine that is quite time consuming I have been trying to publish my first paper and that was a steep learning curve from undergrad. So with trying to publish my paper and doing my experiments for my PhD I have had little spare time to actually sit and write posts. I have also been busy working and just with life in general so sorry I have posted in a long time but I am trying to get back on track. I am hoping by January to at least post once a month not fortnightly.

Also while I am writing this I wanted to let you know I was at my local Mecca Maxima store and saw that they had changed the Too Faced display over to its Christmas stuff (very exciting!!!!). Now it was only the display but I did see spots for the Too Faced everything nice palette and some new melted lipsticks. I don't know when the display will be stock but I will keep you up dated.

Anyway that's all for now

Korean makeup haul and mini review

Hi guys

Told you I'd post more regularly (Yay! for organisation)

Today I am going to tell you about a recent discovery of mine. Asian make-up has always intrigued me, I only hear good things about their BB creams and mascaras. Also being a fair skinned red head, I find western cosmetic companies usually don't make foundations light enough for me and I had heard the Asian foundations/BB creams come in lighter shades.

Asian make up (specifically Korean) is actually easier to find than you think, you just need to know where to look. I went to 2 different shops (one I just kinda found) to by my products both selling only there own products (like going to a cosmetics counter in myer/david jones).

First I went to the Missha shop in boxhill (Vic), you may have heard of missha due to their much hyped BB creams. Missha can also be bought online from their own store. I picked up their popular Perfect cover BB cream and super black brush pen liner (on recommendation from a friend).

Missha Perfect cover BB cream and Super black pen liner

I have only briefly used the BB cream but my first impressions are that I love it, and its very smooth in application with both fingers and a sponge. IT has a slight grey undertone on intial apllication however this fades away after oxidising (~10mins), The coverage is great and I can see why its their best seller. IT has a high SPF and it quite moisturising on my dry skin (also doesnt seem to show dry patches). Overall I am enjoying this product.

Missha Perfect cover BB cream

Now the pen liner, let me start by saying I have never been able to draw eye liner on my top eyelid but with this magical pen I can!!!! The liner its self is very black and have like a rubber (silicon tip) making application easy. Also the packaging is super pretty.

Missha Super black pen liner

I also found the face shop when I was wondering around the city and of course I went in to have a look. after testing a few things out I decided on getting some eye liner in navy and a champaigne colour. These I am yet to test out but in the shop I did try them on my hand and OMG! do they last. To get them off I have use makeup remover, the marks stayed on my hand for a good 5 hours and just would not budge even when I washed my hands twice and tried rubbing them off, So A+++++ for staying power on these ones.

The Face shop make me star eye liners

So overall I'd say a good experience with asian makeup so far and I would definitely like to try more, any suggestions leave below

Bye for now

Sarah xoxo

Too Faced a la mode eyes palette review

Hi Guys

Sorry for the long gap between posts I've just been super busy with my PhD and life in general. I am trying to post more regularly so please stick with me.

So it was my birthday not that long ago and one of my very good friends who enables my make up addiction bought me the new too faced a la mode palette (she knows me very well). so after playing with it for a little while I have decided to review it for you. If you like this review and want to purchase this palette i believe its still available at some Mecca store and kit cosmetics, this is limited edition so be quick.

Now on to the review, this palette is set out like most too faced palettes larger pans for the highlight shades and smaller pan for everything else.

Too face a la mode palette (I really like the pink, orange and blue packaging)

Inside of the too faced a la mode palette
As with most too faced palettes a little cheat sheet is included of looks that could be done with this palette.

The first thing I noticed when opening this palette is that bright pink shade (Monaco) and it doesn't disappoint ether being very pigmented and easy to blend. I also really like the peachy shade above it (Jordin) this one is a little less pigmented but still a lovely shade to work with. All the shades in this palette do have some shimmer in them or a metallic finish, so if you like matte shades this is not the palette for you.

Too faced a la mode palette swatches (no primer)
Overall this palette is just what you expect from too faced, the shades are pigmented and bendable. This palette is great if you are wanting to trying some more adventurous colours without going too wild. The only negative I have is that this palette have no matte shades, so if your travelling you may need to take another palette to complete you looks.

So here are some more pics

Hope you like this review (I really love this palette) and hopefully I'll get a chance to post again soon

Heat Group Warehouse Sale Haul

Hi Guys

Hows it going?, I currently I am writing this in bed with flu (yay for me!) but I suppose that comes with the ridiculous weather Melbourne has.

Anyway before I came down with the full blown flu, I was able to make it to the heat group warehouse sale on the weekend. for those of you who don't know the heat group makes Ulta3 cosmetics and distributes , Covergirl cosmetics, Bourjois cosmetics, Essence cosmetics and Maxfactor cosmetics and many other brands. Every year they have a warehouse sale to get rid of excess stock with prices ranging from $1-$15 for all cosmetics and sets they have, which if you live in Australia is a huge price drop from what we normally would pay in other retail stores. The sale is advertised on their facebook page and website so I would check them out closer to Christmas (sometimes they have another sale) or next year around this time. Also bear in mind I went on the 2nd sale day and I have friends who went on the first sale day and said it was absolutely nuts they spent 2hrs waiting to pay whereas I was in and out within 40mins, so if you can wait I would recommend going on the 2nd day.

Now on to what I got the most I paid for any one thing was $5!!!!!!! (almost unheard of in Australia), which is why I am super excited to share this post with you, now when you walk through the door you are handed a canvas bag to put all your stuff and then you come through the warehouse brand by brand and at the end before checkout you have an area you can go through you bag any get rid of anything you don't really want which does help get people through alot quicker.

so now for some pics of what I got

Everything I got at the sale
As you can see most this at sealed and tester were provided to stop people from opening the products, now I divided my photos into brands to make it easier so show you guys what I got (which was alot)

So lets start with Boujois, most of the thing I got were $5 except for the nail polish (small ones $1 and $3 for the big one). I got 3 of the shine edition lipsticks in 27- Oh my doll, 24 - Rose xoxo, 22 - Famous fuchsia. I also picked up 2 color boost lip crayons in 01 - Red sunset and 06 Plum russian, 3 blushes in 37 - Rose pompon, 33 - Lilas d'or and blush exclusif (changes according to your skins pH). Lastly I got a healthy mix foundation in 51 - vanilla clair and a healthy mix concealer also in 51.

All the Bourjois product I got
Next I'll show you the essence products  I got most of which were $2!!!!!! I got 3 XXXL shine lipgloss in 04 - rising star 021 - red blossom and 23 dazzle glow, 1 lipstick in 53 all about cupcake, 2 studio nails caring nail oil, 1 fix up pen and a nail file. lastly I got 1 night club glamour to go eyeshadow pallette in 03 - dance til-dawn.

All the essence product I got

From covergirl I got 1 lip perfection in scarlet twist and a flamed out pencil in ginger flame, from maxfactor I got my fave mascara false lash effect - clumpy defy

covergirl and maxfactor products
I picked up a couple of perfumes from Jeanne Arthes (never heard of her before), the bottles are super cute too. Both were $5

Jeanne Arthes Perfumes
Last;y I got some mini nail polishes from ulta3 from the tropical paradise range (again this was $5)

ulta 3 polishes

so that's it all I got hope you enjoyed reading

Ulta3 Lip Paints Review

Hi Guys

Today I have a review of the Ulta3 Lip paints. Ulta3 is an Australian based cosmetics company so for those of you else where I'm sorry but maybe if you want this product and have a friend here they would be willing to send some to you.

So I dont have much from Ulta3 all nail polish (which is quite good and affordable) so when I saw a post on instagram asking for bloggers to do a review on their new lip paints I jumped at the chance. I know MissTango2 did a  great review of these on here blog (lots of swatches)

You view her review here
http://misstango2.com/ulta3-lip-paint-review-swatches-and-giveaway/

So I got sent all six of the colours which range from purple and orange to you normal pinks and reds.

Overall I really enjoyed these lips paints, they have a slight minty smell but nothing too noticeable. What I really loved about these lip paints was that they weren't drying on my lips at all in fact when applied they seemed to cover the dry patches. They bleed a little as with most liquad lipstick products however its nothing a lip liner wont fix.

Ulta3 lip paints - RRP $5.95 (I think)

now onto the colours

First is Loud Purple (I believe the name says it all)
This one applies a little patchy and sheer, I found I needed a least 2 coats for an opaque colour.

Loud Purple
Electric orange is a bright orange that again applies on the sheerer side but with 2 coats is pretty opaque

Electric Orange
Extreme pink is a light baby pink, that applies opaque in 1 coat

Extreme Pink

Manic mauve is the most wearable everyday colour out of them all (if you like neutral type colours that is), manic mauve is a dusty rose colour

Manic Mauve
Expressive fuchsia is a bright pink fuchsia colour that again applies opaque in 1 coat (one of my faves)

Expressive Fuchsia

Radical red a bright red with warmer under tones and again applies opaque in 1 coat (another fave)

Radical Red

So final thoughts are these are great and really affordable and I highly recommend them

MAC Haul - Alluring Aquatic Collection

Hi Guys

Sorry for not posting in a long time I will try to post more often.

So many of you may have heard about the new MAC alluring aquatic collection, especially about the packaging and its beautiful.

This collection launched in June, Now I don't normally follow MAC collections nothing has really got me excited until this collection. I had to rush down to Myer and pick a few things up.

My picks from the collection, I just cant get over this packaging.
I mean even the box has water droplets on it (soooo cute!)
Yes even the box has little 3D water droplets on it  I must admit MAC did an amazing job with this collection.
Everything in the collection has this blue and water droplet packaging (Which I adore)
So from this collection I picked up 2 lipsticks, 1 lip glass and 2 extra dimension eyeshadows, however this collection also includes 2 blushes and 4 bronzers, 2 lip pencils, 2 eye liners, plus more eyeshadows, lip glasses and lipsticks.

First the eyeshadows they are smooth and buttery just what you expect from MAC. All the eyshadows are very shimmery so if your after matte shades these a not for you.

Lorelei  and Fathoms Deep (RRP $37.00)
I picked up 2 extra dimension eyeshadows, Lorelei and Fathoms Deep. Lorelei is a shimmery champaign colour and Fathoms Deep a dark purple colour also very shimmery. So far I am really liking both colours.

I also picked up 2 lipsticks both creamsheen, most of the collection is nude shades but I got the 2 coloured ones.

Take a moment to appreciate how cute this packaging is
I picked up Mystical and Goddess of the Sea. Mystical is a rose colour (which I'm finding quite hard to describe). So I'm going with a warm rose colour.

Mystical - RRP $38.00
Goddess of the Sea is a light grape colour, with some mauve (again hard for me to describe)

Goddess of the Sea - RRP $38.00
and lastly I picked up 1 Lip glass in Modern Lure, a deep wine shade with glitter. I have worn this a few times and I must say it does apply a little streaky but nothing too bad.

Modern Lure - RRP $37.00
Overall from what I've tried its all the quality you'd expect from MAC and I'm really loving the eyeshadows and lipsticks.

Ok one last photo of the best packaging

Ahhhh so cute!!!

Bye for now

Sarah

Hot or Not - Revlon Colorbrust Balms

Hi Everyone

Finally the Revlon colorburst balms are here!!!!!! I don't know about you but I was stalking the Revlon Facebook page till they arrived.

I currently own 6 of the shades, 3 from the matte range (240-Striking, 250-Standout & 210-Unapologetic) and 3 from the lacquer range (110-Coquette, 120-Vivacious & 135-Provocateur).

The formula of the lacquer balm seems very similar to the original kissable balm stains that everyone fell in love with (still have a strong peppermint smell). Now I'm going to say something that might be a bit conversational to what everyone is saying I actually like the the lacquer balms more than the matte. They provide a nice amount of colour and are not drying on my lips at all and I do have quite dry lips. The matte balms on the other hand provide fantastic colour but show all the dry patches on my lips and also feel a little drying. Overall I really like these balm stains and I think they will a staple in my lip collection.

Now for swatches:

210 - Unapologetic is a watermelon colour (my favourite from the matte range)

240 - Striking is an orange based red

250 - Standout is a dark red vampy colour

110 - Coquette is a light baby pink colour

120 - Vivacious is fushia colour (my favourite from the lacquer range)

135 - Provocateur is a warm medium red

hope you enjoyed my review and let me know what you think of the Revlon colorbrust balms

Target and Amcal Pharmacy Haul

Hi Everyone

So im back with another haul, Target recently had 30% off cosmetics and amcal had a new range of cosmetics i wanted to check out, so lets get straight into it

I was recently watching some Shannxo videos and noticed her CHI CHI liquid lipstick video and after watching it I was like I need to check these out. I had always looked at CHI CHI but never owned any of their cosmetics and with 30% off at Target I thought why not.

I picked up 4 creamy matte liquid lipsticks. I got 'Crazy in love' a dusty pink colour, 'Showstopper' a berry pink, 'She's not me' a raspberry colour and 'Sexy lady' a crimson pink. These are super pigmented and opaque and so far I am enjoying them. If you would like a full review let me know

CHI CHI Liquid Lipstick (AU$16.95RRP)

I also picked up a CHI CHI mosaic blush in 'Pink peach', I haven't used this yet but I will let you know how it goes. I really like the packaging and huge mirror in the compact.

CHI CHI Mosaic Blush - Pink Peach (AU$19.95RRP)

After I finished at the CHI CHI stand of course I had to go to the NYX stand and although NYX was not included in the sale, they are still very reasonable prices so I picked up a few things. You may notice a trend I picked up a lot of lip products I was on the hunt for some new lip glosses to add to my collection (which consisted of 3).

From NYX I picked up 2 Mega Shine Lip Glosses in '131 Gold Pink' and its as the name suggests its a rosey pink base with fine gold glitter and '162 Nude Peach' which is a peachy pink with a little bit of a pink shimmer. I also picked up from target is 2 NYX butter glosses 'Eclair' a mauve pink and 'Cherry pie' a fire truck red colour.
NYX Mega Shine Lip Glosses (AU$11.95RRP) and Butter Glosses (AU$9.95RRP)

Next I went to Amcal to check out their new range of cosmetics called Colour Theory. I picked up 2 eyeshadow duos ' Just Desserts' and 'Berrylicious, a blush 'Guilty', a bronzer 'Natural Glow' and 2 of their fresh glass lip glosses in 'Cherry  Berry' and 'Sherbet'.  I will review this collection and all the products I bought in another post so keep your eyes out for it.

Colour Theory Products I picked up

Let me know what you would like to see an in depth review of and I will do my best to do it

Priceline 40% off Cosmetics Haul

Hi Guys

So in case your were living under a rock or something priceline just had one of their 40% cosmetics sale, which of course I then had to pop into my local priceline. At first I went in trying to find the new Revlon color burst balms which I am still yet to find hopefully they come soon.

As I walked in I saw the new Loreal False Lash Butterfly Wings mascara in black. I had been eyeing this off for awhile and while on sale I couldn't resist. On the box it says instant volume and length but also shows a picture of false lashes (just a bit deceiving).

Loreal False Lash Butterfly Wings (AU$25.95RRP)

I then went to the essence stand, I love their makeup and its so cheap for us sussie girls. I picked up 2 of the new longlasting lipsticks in '08 colour crush' a pink and 'coral calling' a peachy coral colour.

Essence Longlasting Lipsticks Coral Calling (top) and Colour Crush (bottom) (AU$4.10RRP)
I also picked up 4 eyeshadows, I got 1 metal glam eyeshadow in 'Frosted Apple' a pink metallic shade and 3 single eyeshadows 'Skeye and Sand' a gold colour, 'Is it purple' a light lilac shade and 'Disco Diva a vibrant purple colour.

Essence Metal Glam eyeshadow Frosted Apple (top left) (AU$4.25RRP), Single Eyeshadows in Skeye and Sand (Top Right), Is it Purple (bottom Right) and Disco Diva (Bottom Left) (AU$2.85RRP)
I saw some new things at the Bourjois that I thought might be worth looking at. I found some new cream to powder eyeshadows that intrigued me and I got to colours to try out '03 Petale de glace' a pink shade very similar to maybelline color tattoo in 'Inked in pink' and 01 'Merveille d'argent' a silver to replace my maybelline color tattoo i smashed, These are in plastic containers so hopefully that won't happen again.
Bourjois 24Hr Colour Edition 03 Petale de glace (Left) and Merveille d'argent (Right) (AU$20RRP)
Lastly from Loreal I got glam shine balmy glosses in 'Mad for pomegranate' a raspberry shade and 'Dare the dragonfruit' a pink/purple colour.

Loreal Balmy Gloss in Mad for Pomegranate (bottom swatch) and Dare the Dragonfruit (top swatch)

Ok thats the last haul for awhile I don't think my wallet can handle too much more

Let me know if you want any specific reviews and I will do my best
